GJC 3rd Global Media Meeting completed

The third of the Global Journalism Council (GJC) traditional Global Media Meeting was successfully completed in Alanya between November 2-5, 2023.

The 3rd Global Media Workshop was held on the last day of the meeting hosted by GJC with the participation of approximately 50 foreign journalists from 32 countries and approximately 200 local and mainstream media members from Turkey. The giant meeting ended with the Gala Night and Global Success Awards ceremony after the workshop. In the workshop on the 3rd day of the events held at Alanya Eftelia Marin Hotel, many important issues on a national and international scale were discussed with the participation of nearly 200 local and foreign journalists. Simultaneous translation and online translation in English and Russian languages were provided to foreign journalists. In the last part of the workshop, in the meetings held by the elected boards and assemblies of the GJC, the areas that will contribute to public diplomacy for the 100th anniversary of the Republic of Turkey were determined, necessary plans were made and a road map was drawn for 2024.

“ŞARDAN SHOULD BE RELEASED”

It was underlined that Tolga Şardan, a member of our Nationwide Media Assembly, is a journalist and should be released as soon as possible. In order to increase the impact of President Mehmet Ali Dim’s voicing the problems of journalists, it was decided to make press releases, publicity and programs to raise awareness about the suggestions and warnings made regarding the professional problems experienced by local and nationwide media.

MOSCOW MADE A SPLASH

Emphasizing that the high-level visit and reception hosted by the GJC to Moscow and hosted by the TASS agency had a noticeable impact on Turkish-Russian relations in the Russian press, it was decided to continue the visits according to the consensus that the efforts of the GJC had yielded results.

CONTRIBUTION TO PUBLIC DIPLOMACY

Foreign Media Council, local and foreign council members and some representatives of foreign countries under the leadership of President Elshad Eyvazli; Deputy Chairman of the Assembly Ahmet Coşkunaydın, Anisa Bahiti, Adil Elmas, Adnan Akfırat, Alparslan Düven, Orhan Akyüz, Nalan Yazgan, Deniz Büstani, Benan Kepsutlu, Ardan Zentürk, Majdi Tall, Dmirtri Kalak, Devadeep Purohit, Ali Hançerli, Özgür Zentürk, Nufer Yavuz, Caner Aktürk, Ziya Uzeyir, Elif Ören, Ahmed Halabi Salih, Nyamdari Baigalmaa, Alihan Pehlivan, Emir Abdurrahman Bulut, Sedat Azizoğlu, Avtandil Otinashvili, Ahmed Halabi Salih, Allahverdiyeva Jamila, Khatayi Azizov, Nizaya Bissenova, Nuriye Kuat, Zarina Kuatova, Nurbek Daurenbekov, Raikhan Rakmetova, Zhansaya Shynggyskhankyzy, Djumaev Khamza, Efremova Tatiana, Gusatinsky Vladimir, Alexander Kleyn, Potapkina Alena, Sakhno Liubov, Ekaterina Gündüz, Zeinalova Ramina, Khamza Djumaev, Kulakova Brannerud Vera, Yegane Hajiyeva and Ertan Birinci attended the meeting. Organized in 67 countries, it was agreed to increase the interaction of the members. It was decided to be sensitive to the emergence of Turkey’s agenda in the countries where there are representatives and to contribute more to Turkey’s public diplomacy. The Representative of India said, “It was my childhood dream to come to the country founded by Atatürk. I am very happy that this dream has come true” and the statement of the journalist from Russia, “It is gratifying that Russia, which was at war with the Ottomans for centuries, is now at the point of strategic partnership and cooperation…” were noted as important examples of Turkey’s sphere of influence.

SOLUTIONS WERE SOUGHT FOR THE PROBLEMS THAT HAVE BECOME MORE SERIOUS

The Workshop, which was held after the Assembly and Board meetings, started at 15.00 with a minute of silence for the victims of Gaza and GJC. President Mehmet Ali Dim gave information on professional issues in his opening speech and invited the international community to be sensitive by drawing attention to the drama in Gaza and the killing of journalists.

GALA NIGHT

The Gala Night, which was held for the 3rd time this year and again held in the ballroom of Lonicera World Hotel with the successful presentation of TV Journalist and GJC Deputy Secretary General Benan Kepsutlu, was broadcast live on 24 different TV channels together with Ekotürk TV. MHP Antalya Deputy Abdurrahman Başkan and 23rd Term MHP Antalya Deputy Hüseyin Yıldız, Alanya Deputy District Governor Orhan Altun, Alanya Mayor Adem Murat Yücel, Alanya Alaattin Keykubat University Rector Prof. Dr. Kenan Ahmet Türkdoğan and Alanya protocol attended the night where many local and national guests took part in the protocol. The Deputy Chairman made a speech at the night, emphasized the importance of the media and used words full of praise for GJC. President Yücel also mentioned the contribution of the organization to the promotion of Alanya.

AND AWARDS

Many names who added value to the society and world civilization also received awards. Kazakh Cosmonaut Toktar Ebubekirov, the first and only Turk and Muslim to go into space, received the Global Science Award; Akif Üstündağ, President of the Volleyball Federation, received the Global Sports Award on behalf of the World Champion Women’s National Volleyball Team; Prof. Dr. Şeref Ateş, President of Yunus Emre Institute, received the Turkish World Award; Serdar Akdoğar, General Coordinator of Haber Global TV, received the Global Media Award; and Serdar Akdoğar, General Coordinator of Haber Global TV, received the Global Media Award. Şeref Ateş received the Turkish World Award, General Coordinator Serdar Akdoğar received the Global Media Award on behalf of Haber Global TV, Ali Kemaloğlu received the Global Humanitarian Aid Award on behalf of TURMAKS, which built many mobile hospitals in the earthquake region with foreign resources and grants, and Tourism Doyen Hüseyin Baraner received the Global Tourism Promotion Award. The gala night, attended by more than 550 guests, ended with various activities.
