3rd GJC Global Achievement Awards were given

Global Journalism Council (GJC) 2023 Global Achievement Awards ceremony, organized for the 3rd time this year, took place at the Lonicera World Hotel ballroom in Alanya.
The Gala Night, where the Global Achievement Awards were presented by renowned TV Journalist and GJC Vice Secretary General Benan Kepsutlu, was broadcast live on Ekotürk TV and 24 other TV channels. The gala night attended by more than 550 guests ended with various activities. The awards were given as follows:


Kazakh Cosmonaut Toktar Ebubekirov, the first and only Turk and Muslim to go into space, received the Global Science Award from Antalya MP Abdurrahman Başkan. Ebubekirov, who was the center of attention by attending the night in his cosmonaut official outfit and had plenty of photos taken by the guests, expressed his happiness for the award and thanked the Turkish people and the council. Ebubekirov, who is considered a national hero in Russia and Kazakhstan, stayed in space for 8 days and successfully conducted a series of scientific experiments.


Alanyaspor President Hasan Çavuşoğlu presented the Global Sports Award to Akif Üstündağ, President of the Turkish Volleyball Federation, on behalf of the Turkish Women’s National Volleyball Team, which has gained worldwide appreciation with their intercontinental World and European championships. Üstündağ stated that he received the award on behalf of the women’s volleyball team players and said, “We are honored by this award from the GJC family.”


On behalf of Yunus Emre Enstitüsü, which carries Turkish culture, art, language and flag to different geographies by operating in nearly 100 countries of the world, President Prof. Dr. Şeref Ateş was presented the Turkish World Award by Cengiz Özdemir, Chairman of the Board of Directors of EKOTÜRK TV. President Ateş thanked the council for the award and underlined that they always work in cooperation with the council.


After the February 6 earthquakes, Alanya Mayor Adem Murat Yücel presented the Global Humanitarian Aid Award to Ali Kemaloğlu, the chairman of the board of directors of TURMAKS company, which established many mobile hospitals in the earthquake zone with grants obtained from foreign sources. Kemaloğlu stated that the award was very meaningful and said, “Thank you very much for this sensitivity of the Council.”


Tourism doyen Hüseyin Baraner, who is known for his tourism-oriented promotion and perception studies in European countries as Turkey’s honorary tourism ambassador, was presented the Global Tourism and Promotion Award by Yıldıray Karaer, the owner of Antalya’s flag carrier airline Corendon Airlines. Stating that the award was a surprise for him, Baraner said, “I am happy to win the appreciation of Turkey’s most important professional organization in this field GJC family and thank you very much.”


GJC President Mehmet Ali Dim presented the Global Media Award to News General Coordinator Serdar Akdoğar on behalf of Haber Golbal TV channel, which has gained a place in international broadcasting with its broadcasts that have contributed to Azerbaijan-Turkey friendship since its establishment and its journalism that extends to all continents. Akdoğar thanked the council for the award.
