Before my call to the Minister of Culture and Tourism, Mr. Mehmet Nuri Ersoy, let’s first define what “gastronomy tourism” we’ve been hearing about in recent years is. gastronomic tourism; It can be defined as a form of tourism that creates travel motivation to experience a new food and beverage experience and helps to motivate travel behaviors significantly, and it expresses a kind of gastronomic mobility.

 

As Turkish people, we have turned the route either to our village, to the seaside or to places with plenty of history during our holiday. But times have changed. Foreigners are now making their plans to eat, experience local flavors and different flavors. Of course, the first geography that comes to mind when talking about food is Anatolia… Why? Because these lands we live on are the places where the history of humanity began and the story of humanity was written… The Hittites, Hattians, Phrygians, Lydians, Ionians and Urartians, who once ruled this geography, shaped the Turkish cuisine today. Turkish cuisine, the products grown in the geography, the traditions and customs of civilizations, religions and civilizations were formed by the influence of nutritional cultures, and in the near future, it was kneaded with the nutritional culture of the Ottoman Empire and took its final shape.

 

This cultural food heritage of Anatolia is also a great opportunity for tourism… Gastronomic tourism shines like an uncut diamond in the hands of Turkey, which ranks first in the preferences of foreign tourists with its nature and location… Some tools must be used in order to be attractive. Advertising is the most important thing to do… It should not be forgotten that advertising is the most important marketing tool that shapes purchasing behaviors. If we can explain and promote our cuisine sufficiently, we will ensure that tourists come to our country in droves.

 

For this, I would like to call on our Minister of Tourism, Mr. Mehmet Nuri Ersoy, to be the face of Nusret Gökçe and CZN Burak, who have serious fan bases all over the world. We should make maximum use of these two names. Promotional films and projects that they will play will attract the attention of many tourists. Of course, the work does not end there. The quality, service, hygiene and taste of restaurants are also very important. The ministries of health and culture and tourism should inspect all restaurants to EU standard. At the very least, restaurants that meet the criteria determined by the ministries should be given a certificate of “conforms to EU standards”. Only in this way, there will be a tourist boom in 2023 and we will make a serious contribution to our economy with the tourists coming.
